Day 31-365: Details

The one thing that I love about Chicago is the details in the old buildings. Faces, creatures and flowers are every where. You just need to open up to them.

Day 30-365: Square Addition

Worked on some more squares for my blanket and trying to figure out if I have enough to add. I like to keep the colors random on this ever slow growing project. It is fascinating to see it come together even if I'm only a quarter of the way done.

Day 29-365: Day Trip

Took a little trip out to a yarn store. Cute downtown feel with a little bakery just down the way. Wish I could buy a house up the street so I could hang out in this store.

It was the other day that I took photos of Mac's felted slippers and then remembered that I hadn't blogged about them. They were a quick project that HAD to be done before Christmas. You see, I has having a casual conversation with Mac and she was growing more and more excited about Christmas day. She then blurted out: I can't wait to see what you've knit me.

Oh crap. Totally dug in my stash grabbed some wool and in a weekend had felted slippers. They took nearly the week before Christmas to dry, but they were under the tree for the morning.



She loves skating in the kitchen with them. I do the same in mine;)



Quick, fun and easy. If your looking to not skate across the room, highly recommend putting puffy paint on the bottom for grip.

Day 28-365: Looking Up

If you remember the shot I took the other day out the window looking down at the red and green awnings. This is a shot looking up at my office window from under the awnings.

Day 27-365: Bike Rack

I love how the bike rack looks like bikes. Slanted and all.

Day 26-365: Close Up

My son. I'm lucky to get this out of him. The battery went out in my camera and I was down to the wire today. Hopefully he'll allow me to take another in better light.

Day 25-365: Confined

Really busy at work so had to pop my camera out the window to grab some daylight. I'm wishing I could run away to the green awning on the street. I could use a Double Latte.

Day 24-365: Over Under

This is the Highway in my neighborhood where you can see this humongous flag that is all lite up. Had a difficult time capturing what I envisioned. This is the best of the 20 some shots.

Day 23-365: Fuzzy Slippers

It was a fuzzy slippers kind of day. Captured early morning daylight while in the kitchen cooking.

Day 22-365: Daydreams

My daughter daydreaming of unicorns and princess castles.

Day 21-365: Transit

Taking pictures when it's below 0 outside is kind of painful. I quickly snapped a shot of the "L" while grabbing some lunch.

Day 20-365: The Best Popcorn

The best popcorn in Chicago is Garrett's. Fellow employee was sharing a tin of "mix" which is cheese and caramel. Yummmm.

Day 19-365: City Lights

Working late and seeing the city light up is one of those things that just makes me smile. I'm also charmed by the Blue and Orange lights that show up in support of Da Bears!

Day 18-365: Me@Work

Wasn't sure what to photograph today, so a self portrait it is. I do have to admit that I'm feeling a little pressure for this 365 project. I want to take good pictures and at the same time interesting subjects.

Day 17-365: Bits

Playing with some left over yarn bits which are for my ever growing sock yarn blanket. The project that is never ending.

Day 16-365: Free Flow

There is a artist print that shows how simple free flowing form can represent and simply true life. This is a tight view on a woman's curly hair. I have a deep love for swirls;)

Day 15-365: Mesmerizing

Spent the day with a dear fiber friend and I was in awe of this bag of processed fiber in her sun-room.

Day 14-365: Emerging

A new knitwear design is emerging on my needles and into the sketch book.

Day 13-365: My Cow

She guards my paperwork and stands vigilant through the toughest of times. You don't want to mess with this cow.

Day 12-365: Peaking Out

Dreaded going out into the cold today, so I chose to take the easy way out and shoot pictures from my office window.

Day 11-365: Birdie

You don't have to go far to see wild life in the city.

Day 10-365: Columns

At the northwest corner of Millennium Park is Wrigley Square. These Greek like columns had such a presence against the crisp blue winter sky.

Day 9-365: Stop

Took a walk with my mini me this afternoon while she took her own pictures. This is the sign at our corner. I didn't have to bend down to get this shot... it really is just that tall.

Day 8-365: Reward

As a reward for learning her vocabulary words, Miss Mac picked out some goldfish.

I loved making this and have even contemplated making another. The yarn is fabulous to work with and even making the largest size shawl I could have added repeats to make this even larger.

The only reason why I didn't was because I was concerned about the need to have at least 1/3 of the yarn in reserve to finish the edge charts and bind off using two strands.



This will most likely be the only shot with me wearing it, as the temps in Chicago are ridiculously cold. Wind chill this morning was around 10 degrees.



You know, if I hadn't ripped back a full chart repeat I would have been done with this before Christmas. A lace shawl in a months time. Yeah, that is crazy, but a good crazy.

Day 7-365: Off The Needles

Laminaria knit up in cashmere lace weight is my newly finished object. Can you all hear the collective *sigh* - yay for cashmere!

Day 6-365: Morning Rush

Crowed platform with the Metra train picking up the morning rush. Love the feeling of motion in this shot.

Day 5-365: Underfoot

Love looking down and seeing interesting details of grit and rust on the streets we walk on.
