Request Granted

First off, let me say how proud I am of my son, Eric. He is turning into the most amazing young man. Progress reports came in and we are all delighted with the results so far. Isn't he just adorable!!

At last night's SnB meeting, both me and Theresa show off our fingerless gloves done up in possum. Pattern by Knitty and can you believe you only need one skein?? Great idea for those quick gift projects. The funny realization we noticed was that we both used size 6 dpn's but ended up with different gauge...now see, you knew you need the do gauge and here is a prime example.

And to fill the request of Miss Becca...here is the progress on the Alpaca.

After getting home last night, I stayed up last night knitting and chatting away with my husband till the wee hours of the morning. It doesn't make for a great Thursday work day, but when you've got 225 stitches per row...that means I've got a gazillion more stitches before it starts to look like a sweater:) Here is a close-up of the front, only about an inch before I start the neck portion...then the slipped stitches...

A Toss Up!

With the most perfect weather outside today, I had my work-dilemma. Should I go outside and have a relaxing stroll in dowtown Chicago before I loose all hopes of a sunny weekend? This being the view from my office window...Gorgeous, yes?

But alas, the alpaca calls and I can't help but pull out the lace pullover...and cast-on for the right sleeve. I guess I'll have to pray for nice weather this weekend:) Not sure if you can clearly see the photo of the sweater (done in blue) - Interweave Spring 2006 issue.

I fall in love with this yarn over and over again. As a side note...I'm done with the possum fingerless gloves. I will post about that one with before and after shots of the blocking. I'm hoping that it will help the curling effect they've taken to. Plus, I really need to do a test swatch on my felt bag project...*note to self: remember before's and after's!!

One Project, Two Project ... More!

Completed some rows of the Happy Socks at the Wednesday Night SnB and I've reached the K2P2 ribbing...there on there way to getting on my feet and doing the happy dance - you all know the Happy Sock Dance right? Becca should be doing that dance any day now, with her second crayon-Vomit sock almost complete.

Now, I'm thinking about fingerless mitten done in possum...

Call me a copy cat...but after seeing these fingerless gloves done by Theresa and Mary Beth I couldn't help my self. The yarn was from my Cherry Tree Hill Labor Day grab bag and at first you think Possum?? What the hell, but this stuff is super soft and just plain yummy. The pattern is from Knitty (name of pattern: Fetching) and knits up so quickly....just to show you, here is what I did just last night.

Most likely I'll be making a pair out of all the colors and give them away as Xmas gifts...that's right people if you haven't realized it yet..it's September 22, really only one week left in the month, ouch! Reality Check Hurts:)

Also...can't forget my felted celtic bag...or at least celtic inspired.

So, who of you out there have started your Holiday Shopping?

Happy Socks!

First off, I must show off my new dinning room table and chairs...are then not lovely! Now, if I can only keep the 2-year old and the insane cat away, then it will stay that way:)

Have you ever seen a color that just makes you smile...well, this would be it for me. I've been spending most of my time enjoying the Alpaca sweater soooo much that I feel like I've been ignoring the rest of my projects. Well, this yarn always makes me so cheerful and I have treated it badly and for that...I'm sorry.

And for you to full understand how far this project is....here it is on-the-foot:

I'm hoping to spend some quality time with this lovely happy bright sock tonight at my SnB group...maybe get some progess done. I'm sorry Socks on Two Circ's....I truly have not forgotten you:)

5 Minutes of Fame

Our little Stitch 'n Bitch group has gotten a plug and now I'm plugging it again. Anna was sweet and very interested in learning to knit as part of her work assignment. I hope she continues on with learning this amazing hobby (or in my case obsession) hehe...

Yummy Alpaca

I discoved this yummy alpaca yarn at the Stiches Midwest, back in August. It called to me and I just fell in love it. I wasn't sure what I was going to knit until I was flipping thru the Interweave Spring 2006 magazine - the lace pullover just popped off the page.

The pattern is knit flat starting with the right sleeve and finishing with left sleeve. Once I start to end the project then the drop stiches will come into the design. The drop stiches will make the sweater light wieght and not to warm. Can't wait to see this as a finished piece. The yarn is sooooo super soft...ahhhh.

Another big plus is that my new plants are blooming! I discovered a huge sale at Home Depot...perfect timing, because day after I planted it rained for days and days.

And the day lilies will bloom any day now...

Clapotis is Stupendous

I got to show off my latest project this week to my Stich 'n Bitch group. Talk about perfect timing, the weather is turning a bit chilly when that sun is behind those clouds.

You'll have to forgive my hubby for taking a bad-blurry picture of me when I got home.

Not sure if this photo will post well either, but let me just say "Oh Yeah!" I'm in love with this. The yarn is a lovely Silk Wool that was shown to me from a lovely woman at My Sister Knits. This yarn was some of the new stuff for fall...soft and easy to knit.

I would definately recommend this project to any knitter. Pattern is on Knitty.com and can be located under shawls. The name of this pattern is Clapotis, which I believe is french...and makes the whole project even more memorable.

First of many

I can't believe I'm actually doing this...it's real and I'm about to burst at the seams:) Who knows if anyone will read this...it's all for me. Now to figure out how all this stuff works.
